Funding Opportunity: LUMS Visiting Scholar Scheme 2026–27

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has opened its Visiting Scholar Scheme for 2026–27. The scheme supports LUMS departments in hosting established, internationally recognised research collaborators for a focused visit of one to two weeks between November 2026 and July 2027.

Funding of up to £3,000 per visit is available for visit costs. LUMS expects to support one visiting scholar for each department.

Expected outcomes

The visit should complete a short piece of collaborative work leading to at least one significant research outcome, such as:

  • development of an external research funding proposal with the international partner;
  • preparation of a publication for a world-leading journal; or
  • another outcome that strengthens LUMS’s research-led culture.

As a condition of the award, the visiting scholar must deliver a research seminar or School lecture organised by the host department.

Key dates

  • Call opened: Wednesday 5 August 2026
  • Internal deadline: Wednesday 16 September 2026
  • Visit period: November 2026 to July 2027

The call was circulated internally to LUMS Departmental Research Directors. Prospective visitors should therefore develop an application with an established LUMS research collaborator and follow the relevant department’s internal process.
